How safe is your kitchen floor? - Is it lethal when it’s wet? - Do you have to shuffle along to keep your balance? Have you slipped and thought, wow! That was a close shave it could have been quite serious.
In my 26 years associated with commercial kitchens, I can vouch that floors of all kinds are a major hazard, WHY. The Installation of inefficient extraction systems, that are not pulling the grease molecules into the filters, allowing the grease to fall to the floor, stick to the walls,& ceilings, this is then compounded by ineffectual cleaning. Before setting up Sure Foot to carry out kitchen deepcleaning, I was promoting and demonstrating a new quarry tile degreasing product, created purely to remove trapped grease from the body of quarry tiles, when after watching a successful demonstration at a prestigious Surrey Hotel, THE HEAD CHEF informed me of what had happened to him in a previous kitchen with a central extract canopy and quarry floor. He said, “After experiencing a sudden fire in a fryer at the opposite corner of the cook area, instinct caused him to race around the isle to reach the fire, in a split second he had slipped on the greasy floor, putting his hand out to break his fall, had placed it on top of the solid top oven, he burnt his hand quite badly, hit the floor and broke his elbow”, situations like this always require fast thinking and fast actions, which is when these sort of accidents happen. What an amazing product it turned out to be, it did what it said on the tin so to speak, and by removing the trapped grease, restores the original slip resistance to the quarry tiles, this is also applies to body fat grease found throughout a leisure complex, in the showers, changing rooms and pool sides. We just recently carried out a demonstration to the Senior HSO for Slough, a particular site was suffering from a high degree of slip, before we started he carried out a slip test, after the demonstration, a further slip test clearly showed a full restoration was achieved, needless to say he was most impressed.
